Here's a tribute to a 1980s TV sitcom that filled an education void created when politicians chose silence. Social observer/commentator Matt Baum posted this video on his Facebook page about a "Designing Women" episode titled "Killing all the Right People." Season 2, Episode 4 addressed AIDS, gay men, and condoms -- topics too hot for President Reagan and too controversial to teach in school.
When Designing Women Taught America About AIDSIn the 1980s, where could Americans turn for the truth about HIV? Oddly enough, Designing Women was educating the country about AIDS when few others would. Season 2, Episode 4, entitled "Killing all the Right People" featured AIDS, gay men, and condoms ... and of course a shouting speech by Julia Sugarbaker.
