A Georgia man who recently won nearly half a million dollars in the Fantasy 5 jackpot was killed in a home invasion robbery early Thursday, police said.

Craigory Burch Jr., was inside his Fitzgerald, Georgia, home when he was shot and killed by an intruder Albany, Georgia, TV station WALB reported.

Bunch, a 20-year-old forklift driver, bought a winning lottery ticket worth $434,272 on November 29, 2015. He told WALB at the time that he planned to use some of the prize to buy Christmas gifts for people in need.

"I knew that I would come into money," a Georgia Lottery news release quoted him saying after the win. "I couldn't believe it at first. I was stunned. I'm still overwhelmed."

Burch's girlfriend was in the home when he was killed, police said. No arrests have been made.

Burch was in the home with his girlfriend at the time of the robbery and ran for help. No arrests have been made. GBI agents were at the home overnight collecting evidence, according to WALB.
