Chris Christie will head back to New Jersey, where he has a day job as governor, to decide the future of his troubled presidential campaign following a disappointing showing in the New Hampshire GOP primary. Christie had concentrated his efforts in New Hampshire, hoping for a strong showing that could help him stand out in the race, but he failed to get it.
"We've decided that we're going to go home to New Jersey tomorrow and we're going to take a deep breath, and see what the final results are tonight because that matters, other it was sixth or fifth," Christie said in his concession speech.
One factor is that he would not be invited to Saturday's GOP debate if he placed sixth, which would be a major blow to any comeback efforts. He should have information necessary to know "about how we love from here in this race" by Wednesday afternoon, he said.
Sixth place appears his likely position, since he is 3-points behind Marco Rubio, who holds fifth with 88% of the precincts reported as of early Wednesday.
