A North Carolina sheriff's investigators are looking at possibly charging Donald Trump with inciting a riot while speaking at a campaign rally where a man allegedly punched a protester.

The incident happened during a large rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, last week.

"We are continuing to look at the totality of these circumstances," the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said in a written statement Monday. "Including the potential of whether there was conduct on the part of Mr. Trump or the Trump campaign which rose to the level of inciting a riot."

Video shows a black protester being sucker punched by a 78-year-old Trump supporter as he was being escorted out of the arena. The man has been charged with assault, disorderly conduct and communicating threats.

Trump in his speech about how at a previous rally a protester traded punches with his supporters. "They started punching back," Trump said. "It was a beautiful thing."

The Trump campaign said they have not been contacted by investigators.
