Ben Carson did his best to defend Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski in a CNN interview Thursday, but his strategy was to suggest CNN's John Berman and Kate Bolduan likely also have criminal arrest records.

Lewandowski is accused of battery against a reporter after a Florida news conference last month.

"A lot of people have been charged with various things," Carson said in Lewandowski's defense. "That doesn't necessarily mean that we need to demonize them. You've probably been charged with something too. Maybe with a misdemeanor. Doesn't mean that you're an evil, horrible person."

Berman denied he's ever been arrested.
