Historic Video: D-Day Vet & Soldier's Wife Tell Their Stories Of World War 2

Wednesday, November 11, 2015 is Armistice Day In Europe and Veteran's Day in the United States. In observance, Lead Stories presents a video made by our editor in chief 15 years ago. He interviewed a dozen war veterans and one soldier's wife in order to capture their dramatic memories before they are gone.

Sadly, Nell Smith -- who recounted how American families coped during World War 2 -- died just days after this taping in 2000.

Lincoln DeVillier, who was a young U.S. Army lieutenant when he landed on a French beach on D-Day, tells his story first:
