An American Civil Liberties Union member who suggested in a Facebook posting that all Donald Trump supporters should be warned 'If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before election day," resigned from the ACLU's Colorado board Friday, the group said.

Loving Wirbel, 58, posted this controversial message on December 7, 2015, but deleted several days later when the Daily Caller reported on it: "The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for Trump and say, 'This is Goebbels. This is the final solution. If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before election day.' They're not going to listen to reason, so when justice is gone, there's always force, as Laurie would say."

Wirbel's hometown of Colorado Springs has suffered two mass shootings in the past two months, including the Planned Parenthood attack that killed three people.

"The ACLU of Colorado does not condone the recent personal Facebook post of regional volunteer Loring Wirbel," the ACLU's Colorado chapter tweeted Friday. He served the Colorado Springs chapter representative on the state board.
