Christie Christie endorsed Donald Trump for president Friday, saying he is the best choice for the Republicans to nominate against Hillary Clinton.

"You need a strong, tough leader to restore America's greatness and this is the best person to do that," Christie said.

"This is the one endorsement that I wanted to get," Trump said at a news conference with Christie in Ft. Worth, Texas, Friday.

Christie, who dropped out of the GOP presidential race a day after a poor finish in the New Hampshire primary, said Trump is the best hope for keeping Clinton "10 miles from the White House."

The New Jersey governor immediately attacked Marco Rubio suggesting he was "an amatuer act."
