Did South Park character Cartman really say "What will you do? Shoot me?" in a recent episode where he played a character inspired by Charlie Kirk? No, that's not true: A screenshot with a falsified subtitle began circulating online shortly after Kirk was shot on September 10, 2025. In the actual scene the screenshot is from Cartman says no such thing.
The image appeared in a post on X (archived here) published on September 11, 2025 and it showed a subtitle that read:
What will you do? Shoot me?

Lead Stories reviewed the South Park episode the screenshot is from ("Got a Nut", S27.E2, archived here) that aired on August 6, 2025 in which the character Cartman takes on the role of a "Master Debater" clearly inspired by Charlie Kirk.
This is a transcript of the scene in question, which begins about 6 minutes and 55 seconds into the episode:
Clyde: Black people have everything handed to them.
Cartman: I'm sick of people stealing my schtick. If anyone around here is going to be a master debater, it's me. So, let's go. Who wants to debate the master debater? Let's go. You right there.
Girl: That's the stupidest haircut I've ever seen.
Cartman: You are wrong! Leviticus 3.17 says it shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings. So, you can shut up, baby. You just hate America and you love abortions!
Copies of the clip are easy to find online, for example here (archived here).
