Fact Check: Satirical Post Said 'Radical Libertarian NRA Members' Wielding AR-15 Rifles Were Facing Off With ICE Vehicles In Oregon -- Not Real News Satire

Did a group of "radical libertarian NRA members" face off with ICE agents and their vehicles in Oregon, daring them to move an inch toward them? No, that's not true: A viral message making that claim in the wake of the Minneapolis shooting of a woman by an ICE agent originated on a satirical X.com account. There were no actual news reports about such an event happening in Oregon.

The X post (archived here) was published by The Halfway Post on January 9, 2026 and read:

BREAKING: A group of radical libertarian NRA members in Oregon are reportedly open-carrying AR-15s and standing in front of ICE vehicles with smiles on their faces and daring the agents to move an inch toward them.

The post appeared shortly after a woman was shot and killed by an ICE agent (archived here) in Minneapolis on January 8, 2026.
