Fact Check: Elon Musk DID Tweet 'I Agree With The Teachings Of Jesus' He Did Tweet

Does a legitimate screenshot show that Elon Musk in February of 2026 wrote "I agree with the teachings of Jesus," in an X post? Yes, that's true: The X owner did post that message on his verified account. The screenshot does not alter his post.

The claim appeared in a February 17, 2026, post on X.com account @TheRealThelmaJ1 (archived here). It opened:


How many babies have starved or died of HIV in Africa because of Elon Musk shutting down USAID?

This is what the screenshot in the @TheRealThelmaJ1 post looked like on X at the time of writing:

While the author of the post was clearly questioning Musk's commitment to the "teachings of Jesus," the screenshot of Musk's post does show a real post. The image in the post uses a real tweet from Musk's X account @elonmusk (archived here) that he posted on February 17, 2026, as this screenshot shows:
