Did Rep. Ilhan Omar incorrectly say "World War Eleven" instead of "World War II" without correcting herself? No, that's not true: Omar did misspeak saying "World War Eleven" in January 2025 but the part where she corrected herself was cut off in a clip of the incident that went viral. In the original video she immediately corrected herself, substituting "Two" for 11 and then saying "sorry."
The claim appeared in a post and video (archived here) by the @ImMeme0 account on X on April 27, 2026. It read:
Rep. Ilhan Omar: "The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked... during World War ELEVEN."
She must have gotten her education in the Quality Learing Center.
This is what a screenshot of the video in the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

This is the full transcript of what Omar said in the clip on X:
The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War Eleven.
The Associated Press Style Guide (archived here) says the preferred style is to use Roman numerals for world wars: World War I and World War II, which could be easily misread as an 11. If there had actually been an 11th world war, it would be written: World War XI.
Original video
In the original video of the Jan. 22, 2025, event, posted on YouTube (archived here), Omar misspeaks and then corrects herself:
The last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked, it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War Eleven. Oh, two. Sorry.
