Did the BBC report that Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska was spotted wearing a pendant stolen from France's Lalique Museum? No, that's not true: The BBC denied ever publishing such a report. The video was doctored to digitally add the jewelry item to Zelenska's neck.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here and here) published on X by @its_The_Dr on July 23, 2026. The caption read:
Hmmm 🤔 sure seems odd, I admit I don't like Zelensky, giving him hundreds of Billions was the biggest Scam ever! Jewelry worth nearly €4 million was stolen from France's Lalique Museum on July 5. Days later, photographers captured Olena Zelenska wearing what appears to be the museum's famous Woman-Dragonfly pendant during a meeting in Paris. Makes you wonder about what all this guy is involved in.
The banner across the video with the visible BBC logo shared in the post repeated the claim:
UKRAINE'S FIRST LADY SPOTTED WEARING STOLEN LALIQUE PENDANT.

BBC denies
The burglary occurred (archived here and here), in the early hours of July 5, 2026, at the Lalique Museum (archived here) in Wingen-sur-Moder, a town near the French eastern border less than 40 miles from Strasbourg.
But the alleged BBC report was not part of that story's coverage.
On July 27, 2026, the BBC press office told Lead Stories via email:
This video is fake, it's not BBC content.
The video in question did not appear on the public broadcaster's channel on YouTube (archived here).
A Google search across the BBC website (archived here) did not return any such report, either.
Altered video
The video reviewed in this fact check claimed to show Zelenska wearing one specific item (archived here): the Dragonfly pendant (archived here).

However, a Reuters photo (archived here) of the Ukrainian first couple's arrival to the Élysée Presidential Palace in Paris, France, on July 13, 2026, did not show Zelenska wearing any neck jewelry.
Neither did the Associated Press video recording (archived here) of the event:
