Is the image that President Donald Trump shared of a United States Space Force Service Dress Uniform Next Generation the official uniform for the military branch? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that the image shows the new official uniform for the Space Force. New ceremonial dress uniforms were introduced by the Space Force in Aug. 2026 but they did not match the image posted by Trump.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the @RapidResponse47 account on X Sept. 6, 2026. It was a repost from Trump's Truth Social account @realDonaldTrump (archived here). This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

There is no evidence that this is an official update of the uniform for the Space Force at the time of writing. There have been no announcements by the White House confirming that the designs posted by Trump are the official new uniforms for the Space Force. Lead Stories contacted the U.S. Space Force for a comment and was directed to the White House. Lead Stories will update this story when a response from the White House is received.
In August, the Space Force introduced new ceremonial dress uniforms (archived here) at the IndyCar race, as The New York Times reported (archived here). These uniforms do not match what Trump proposed in his post. Here is a screenshot of the new uniforms:

On Jan. 9, 2026, the Department of the Air Force released a memorandum regarding the subject titled Space Force Guidance Memorandum to SPFI 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of Military Personnel. While there are many examples of the dress uniform, none of them match what is in the image Trump posted. It has not been updated at the time of writing.

The uniforms carry Nazi connotations. "Starship Troopers" is a 1997 movie about American politics and, "fascists who aren't aware of their fascism," director Paul Verhoeven told The Guardian (archived here).
