Watch: Amazing Tornado Footage From Georgia Earlier Today

  • by: Jeremy Smith

A weather system moving northeast at 40 mph has produced at least one tornado in the Pooler, Ga., area, the National Weather Service said.

Thunder and lighting, and heavy rain, are likely overnight in South Carolina counties in the path of the system as a cold front moves in to displace very warm air.

The National Weather Service said there were reports of a tornado moving northeast at about 35 mph at about 5 p.m. Tornado warnings were issued for Chatham, Bryan and Effingham counties west of Savannah.

Storms moving across Georgia on are part of a system reaching from the Gulf Coast nearly to the Great Lakes.
