Fact Check: NO Evidence Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Said They Would Leave US If Trump Wins In 2024 No Proof

Did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce say they would leave the United States if Donald Trump wins in 2024? No, that's not true: There is no proof that either of them ever said that. No news outlets have reported that the singer or the football player ever made such comments about leaving the U.S. if Trump wins the 2024 election. Had either Swift or Kelce made the statement, it would have been huge national and international news amid the 2024 presidential election.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X, formerly known as Twitter, on February 14, 2024. It opened:

BREAKING: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce say they will leave the United States if Donald Trump becomes President in 2024.

What's your reaction?

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The post did not cite any source for the statement nor did it provide any evidence to substantiate the claim.

There is no evidence that Swift or Kelce had made the comments as of February 15, 2024. The superstar couple have not made any comments about Trump since they began dating in mid-2023. They went public with their relationship when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game on September 24, 2023, as People magazine reported (archived here).

A Google news search (archived here) for the keywords "Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce said they would leave the US if Trump wins in 2024" yields zero matching results. Had either Swift or Kelce made the comments it would have been national and international news.

A Google news search of "Travis Kelce" AND "Donald Trump" (archived here) did not show any results of the football player making the comments about Trump. A Google news search of "Taylor Swift" AND "Donald Trump" (archived here) returned articles about Trump speaking about Swift in 2024.

Lead Stories reached out to Swift and Kelce's representatives for comment and will update the story when a response is received.

Lead Stories debunked a similar post in January 2024 falsely claiming that comedian Ellen DeGeneres and actor Tom Hanks had pledged to move abroad if Trump is elected president in 2024. That story is here.
