Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Convoy Of Truckers 'Heading To Texas' In 2024 2022

Does a viral video capture a convoy of truckers traveling to the southern border in 2024 to support Texas Governor Greg Abbott's stance on immigration? No, that's not true: The footage was posted online two years earlier. It captured truckers heading to Washington, D.C., not Texas.

The story appeared in a reel (archived here) on Facebook published on January 31, 2024, under the title:

The Trucks are Heading To Texas! πŸ€ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The post, however, reused footage uploaded online in 2022 (archived here.) That footage portrayed a different event. At the time, truckers went to the country's capital to protest COVID-related restrictions:

Unlike the reel on Facebook, the material published by Business Insider contained interviews with people referring to COVID-19 or restrictions, and that further confirms that the event is unrelated to the 2024 confrontation over the southern border between Gov. Greg Abbott and the Biden administration or truckers' position on it.
