Fact Check: Taylor Swift Did NOT Endorse Donald Trump In August 2024 AI Generated

Did Taylor Swift endorse Donald Trump in August 2024? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that Swift said she wanted people to vote for Trump in the 2024 presidential election campaign. The image of Swift as Uncle Sam with the phrase "TAYLOR WANTS YOU TO VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP" appears to be AI generated. Swift endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 and spoke out against Trump that year. There are no credible news reports that Swift threw her support behind Trump in 2024 election.

The claim originated in a post (archived here) where it was published on X, formerly known as Twitter, on August 17, 2024. It opened:

The left continues COMPLETELY MELTING DOWN everytime a SwiftiesForTrump post goes up! They're losing their minds!!

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

Text overlaying a poster-style image of Swift dressed as Uncle Sam read "TAYLOR WANTS YOU TO VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP." A Google search of keywords (archived here) returned zero matching results for Swift endorsing or supporting Trump in August 2024. Because of Swift's global fandom, had this taken place it would have been national and international news. Lead Stories ran the image through the HIVE AI-detection tool that determined it was likely AI-generated:

As of publication date, Swift had not endorsed Trump or Kamala Harris, according to a search of her X account (archived here) or her Instagram account (archived here).

Swift has historically not supported Trump. In 2020, she posted a message on her now-X account (archived here) slamming Trump:

Swift also gave an interview and posted on her X account (archived here) that she was supporting Joe Biden in October 2020:

The image was shared by Trump on his Truth Social account (archived here) on August 18, 2024. It was part of a collage of images that showed "Swifties for Trump." The image of a purported news article titled, "Swifties turning to Trump after ISIS foiled Taylor Swift concert," was clearly labeled satire.

The image of the woman in a white T-shirt that read "Swifties for Trump," was identified in a separate post (below) as Jenna Piwowarczyk at a Trump rally in Racine, Wisconsin, in June (archived here):

The image of the woman in a red light T-shirt that said "Swifties for Trump" was AI-generated as this screenshot shows:
