Fact Check: FAKE Video Shows Interview Between Trump, 'Diddy' Combs That Never Happened Didn't Happen

Did an authentic video show a real interview between Donald Trump and Sean "Diddy" Combs? No, that's not true: It came from a YouTube channel described as "Conversations that never took place between people who never met. Created using existing interviews." Lead Stories found the original interviews from the 1990s used to create the fake one.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on Threads on September 20, 2024. This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

The fake interview (archived here) originated from YouTube channel The Talk on August 27, 2024. Artist Jonas Hollerup Helle runs the channel. In the caption for the fake-interview video, The Talk describes its content as:

Conversations that never took place between people who never met. Created using existing interviews.

Lead Stories located the original interviews with talk-show host Charlie Rose that were used to fabricate the fake interview. The Trump interview (archived here) is from 1992, while the Combs interview (archived here) is from 1999.
