Fact Check: AOC Did NOT Admit Undocumented Immigrants Vote Didn't Say It

Did Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez admit that undocumented immigrants vote in U.S. elections? No, that's not true: She actually said families of undocumented people vote, not the undocumented themselves. Her full quote in context comes from her own official TikTok page.

The claim appeared in a post and video on X (archived here) on November 11, 2024. It said:

AOC admits that ILLEGALS VOTE, their families vote, and they're upset that they haven't gotten amnesty yet. There's no confusing what AOC says right here: 'UNDOCUMENTED PEOPLE WHO DO VOTE.' This is a huge admission by AOC.

Here is a screenshot of the post at the time of writing:

The post includes a 23-second portion of a longer video (archived here) Ocasio-Cortez posted on her official TikTok page on November 11, 2024.

Here is what she said about undocumented people, starting at the 0:01 mark of the full video:

Another area that I thought was very interesting was hearing a lot from undocumented people and, importantly, families of undocumented people who do vote, saying that there's been no relief from Democrats or anybody else on immigration path to citizenship for 10, 20, 30 years.

"It is clear the Congresswoman was referring to mixed-status families and American citizens within those families who are eligible to vote," Ocasio-Cortez Communications Director Sidney Johnson told Lead Stories in a text message on November 13, 2024.
