Fact Check: NO Evidence Dick Cheney Died In December 2024 Parody Origin

Did former Vice President of the United States Dick Cheney die at 83 on December 30, 2024? No, that's not true: The social media account that reported this story has "parody artist" in its X bio and calls its posts "bait." A Google News search did not include any results that would back up the claim Cheney had died.

The claim appeared in a post on X (archived here) published on December 30, 2024. The caption read:

BREAKING: Dick Cheney has died at age eighty-three.

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

Lead Stories checked the X account that posted the claim and found "Parody artist" in its bio. Evidence of this is below:

The next line in the bio was, "If you fell for my bait, you owe me eight dollars."

Google News did not give Lead Stories any results that would confirm the legitimacy of the claim (archived here). Instead, the online news archive gave us results about Cheney's life and legacy.

Lead Stories has contacted Cheney's team and will update this article when a relevant response is received.
