The fake screenshot was the result of digital editing. It had been online for at least a month, but regained prominence on April 7, amid turmoil in global stock markets.
A search of Trump's Truth Social account shows that the president never posted a message containing that text.
If he had, it would undoubtedly have formed the basis of widespread news reports. An April 7, 2025, search of Google News for the words "Trump no crying in the casino" yielded no relevant results.
