Did a video show passengers on board an Air India flight as it crashed in June 2025? No, that's not true: The clip was in fact recorded on board a plane that crashed after leaving Kathmandu, Nepal, in January 2023. On June 12, 2025, a London-bound Air India flight with 242 people on board crashed shortly after leaving Ahmedabad airport in India.
The claim appeared in a June 12, 2025 post on X (archived here), which consisted of the video in question and the following caption:

The video shows a plane crash and might be upsetting to some viewers. It can be watched below:

In reality, that footage was not recorded on board the Air India plane that crashed after leaving Ahmedabad airport on June 12, 2025. Rather, it showed passengers on board a Yeti Airlines plane that crashed shortly after taking off from Pokhara airpot in Kathmandu, Nepal on January 15, 2023.
As reported by the BBC, the video was livestreamed on Facebook by Sonu Jaiswal, an Indian passenger.
Posts on X from January 15, 2023, the date of the Nepal crash, demonstrate that the exact same clip has been online since that date.
