Fact Check: Photo Does NOT Show Vance Boelter Accompanying Woman In Democrat Slogan Shirt -- It's Not The Minnesota Assassination Suspect Not Boelter

Does a photo in multiple social media posts show Vance Boelter, the man alleged to have killed a Minnesota lawmaker in his own home? No, that's not true: A member of the executive committee of the Texas Democratic Party identified the couple in the image as a Houston candidate for Texas party chair: Lillie Schechter and her husband. Reverse image searches did not match the man in the image of the couple to online photos of Boelter, nor to any other man. The man on the left in the solo image resembles Boelter, but that photo could not be matched to online images of the alleged assassin.

The photo appeared in multiple social media posts, including a June 16, 2025 X.com post (archived here) on the @1Nicdar account with the caption: "Democrats always lie about everything."

The meme said:

Democrats saying that Vance Boelter is a Republican.. lets put that to rest right now.

Here's what the post looked like at the time this fact check was written:

Google reverse image search, cropping down to just the woman's face and shoulders, did not find a match to the photo of the woman, nor did a cropped selection of the man beside her generate any matches:

But, a member of the Executive Committee of the Texas Democratic Party identified the woman as Lillie Shecter, a Houston, Texas candidate for Chair of the Texas Democratic Party, and the man to her right as her husband, photographed in front of City Hall in Houston. On X, Micah Erfan, called the meme claiming it was Boelter "embarassing":

Here's a side-by-side of Schechter's campaign headshot and the image claiming she was at an event with Boelter:

Visual comparison of the background of the photo of the couple and of photos of Houston City Hall confirms that the picture of her was likely taken in front of Houston City Hall, stone facade with green window details and the bulky base in front of the taller tower.

Lead Stories reached out to Lillieforchair.com, to Micah Erfan and to the Texas Democratic Party for corroboration. We will update this fact check as relevant when they reply.
