Fact Check: Andrew Yang DID Write On X That Ozzy Osbourne Was 'A True American Original' Edited Later

Did Andrew Yang post on x that British musician Ozzy Osborne was "a true American original"? Yes, that's true: Yang, an entrepreneur who unsuccessfully ran for President of the United States in 2020 and the New York City mayorship a year later, did write that on X. The edit history of the post shows he later edited the post to remove the word "American" and the American flag emoji and to add the words "and pioneer".

The statement appeared in a post (archived here) on X on July 23, 2025. It showed what looked like a screenshot of Yang's post that read:

RIP Ozzy Osbourne, a true American original. 🙏❤️🇺🇸

At the time of this writing, Yang's post (archived here) that was published on the day of Osbourne's death (archived here) read, "RIP Ozzy Osbourne, a true original and pioneer. 🙏❤️".

However, the edit history (archived here) shows that he changed the original content of the post:
