
Was a teddy bear found at a bus station in California wrapped in real human skin in July 2025? No, that's not true: An artist in South Carolina claimed responsibility for the creation and said it was made using latex. "Dark Seed Creations" said they recently sold the bear to someone in Victorville, California, but they were unaware it would be used in a prank.
The claim appeared in a widely-shared post on Facebook on July 14, 2025 (archived here), which included a photo of a bloody teddy bear covered in what appeared to be pieces of human skin sewn together, and the same bear sitting on the ground in a bus stop. The caption read:
WTF: Teddy Bear Believed To Be Wrapped In Human Skin Found At A Gas Station In California

In reality, the teddy bear was not covered in human skin, and was in fact the creation of an artist in South Carolina who said they used latex.
In a July 13, 2025, post on Facebook (archived here), "Dark Seed Creations" wrote:
Lol so about an hour ago I found out a news article in Victorville Ca has one of my skin bears used in a prank at a bus station there. My phone is dying from trying to keep up with answering everyone lol.
