Is a video showing a fat lady jumping off the bow of a small boat, causing it to sink authentic? No, that's not true: An AI detection tool concluded with 93% certainty that it was not real. A careful examination of the video also reveals details inconsistent with reality.
The video (archived here) was shared by the @llandoniffirg account on X on June 29, 2025. The post offered no context other than this caption:
Wait for it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

AI-generated videos are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but there are still some imperfections that are detectable. For example, in this 10-second video the men sitting with their backs to the woman as she splashes into the water, turn their heads nearly 180 degrees to see her; yet their bodies do not turn. This is especially distinct for the man on the left.
Another odd clue is the position of the two people sitting on the stern as the boat tips. They are still in an upright position, despite the physics that should cause them to shift.
Lead Stories downloaded the video and submitted it to Hive Moderation's AI-generated content detection tool, which concluded with a likelihood of 93.9% that it was AI-generated content.
