Does a viral image authentically show soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez married and at their wedding? No, that's not true: The image contained glitches and discrepancies typical of AI generated images and at least one detection tool found evidence of deepfake content. The couple announced their engagement via social media on August 11, 2025 and have not announced a wedding as of publication date.
An X post (archived here) shows the image published on August 20, 2025. It opened:

It is obvious the image isn't quite right just by looking at it: Their hands below the bouquet are blurred together and only have three puffy fingers and her engagement ring is just a white square. Her hand above his head is also distorted, with four misshapen fingers showing, with one added above the thumb. These two screenshots show the hands up close:

Had Ronaldo, one of the most famous soccer players in the world, married his fiancee Rodriguez and posted a photo from the ceremony it would have been reported by major national and international news outlets. Lead Stories searched Google News' index of thousands of news websites and found no credible news reports of the couple getting married. Similarly, the Yahoo! News index of partner news sites and news services showed no legitimate news reports of Ronaldo and Rodriguez nuptials (archived here).
Rodriguez posted an image of her engagement ring on August 11, 2025 on her Instagram account (archived here) with the caption, "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives." She has not posted any details about a wedding as of publication date.
