Did Tulsi Gabbard, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, officially designate California Sen. Adam Schiff and former CIA Director John Brennan "domestic enemies"? No, that's not true: An authentic video posted by Gabbard in Jan. 2021 resurfaced on social media in Sept. 2025 with a misleading description that makes it seem like a 2025 video. Gabbard became the Director of National Intelligence in Feb. 2025. But, at the time she filmed the video she did not hold an official position in the U.S. Government, having recently finished her term as a U.S. Representative from Hawaii's 2nd district.
The video resurfaced in a post (archived here) published on X by @Real_RobN on Sept. 23, 2025. The post was captioned:
Here is: Tulsi Gabbard, the United States Director of National Intelligence, has officially designated John Brennan and Adam Schiff as "domestic enemies" of the United States.
This is how the 1 minute, 33-second video appeared in the post:

Gabbard's original post (archived here) was published on Jan. 26, 2021 (embedded below). The text caption with the post, which reflects the video's transcript, trails off with an incomplete sentence.
The mob who stormed the capitol to try to stop Congress from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities were behaving like domestic enemies of our country. But let us be clear, the John Brennans, Adam Schiffs and the oligarchs in Big Tech who are... pic.twitter.com/Q3VssCiz5l

In the video Gabbard, holding no official government position at the time, finished that sentence, saying:
But let us be clear, the John Brennans, Adam Schiffs and the oligarchs in Big Tech who are trying to undermine our constitutionally-protected rights and turn our country into a police state with KGB-style surveillance are also domestic enemies, and much more powerful and therefore dangerous than the mob that stormed the Capitol.
