Fact Check: Video Claiming Two Clips Of Charlie Kirk's Shooter In Action Shows The Wrong Building In One Clip 2 Buildings

Does a video posted on TikTok show two clips of Charlie Kirk's shooter on the roof of a Utah Valley University building when the fatal shot was fired? No, that's not true: The post uses two different video clips and the first one does not show the shooter. It shows a building over Kirk's right shoulder, an impossible angle for the shooting that has been described by officials. Only the second clip in the video shows the accurate view of the shooter on a rooftop in front of Kirk, which matches the timeline investigators have described.

The claim appeared in a video published on September 11, 2025 on the TikTok account @ItsNickHoliday (archived here) under the title "They posted a video of the shooter on the roof at the Charlie Kirk event #Utah #CharlieKirk #News #Shooting". It opened with the person in the video saying:

Somebody had posted this video the moment Charlie Kirk was shot on campus but the shooter's in the video.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

The first clip in the video is of the building to Kirk's right, which would place the shooter behind Kirk's right shoulder. His white tent can be seen on the right side of the screen. That building is identified on a Utah Valley University campus map as the Browning Administration Building. That is not the point of origin of the fatal shot, according to public statements and photos released by the FBI (archived here).

The second video correctly shows the position of the shooter, atop the Losee Center directly across from the tent Kirk was sitting under when he was fatally shot.

Here is a screenshot from the TikTok post of the first clip, with Kirk's tent in the lower right corner and the Browning building to his right (in the upper left quarter of the photo):

Kirk was shot around 12:20 p.m. Videos after the shooting show a person on the roof of the Losee Center, which is in front of Kirk, not behind him.

A video published on multiple news outlets, including the New York Times (archived here) shows the perspective from inside a building behind Kirk and to his left. This video, which was enhanced, shows the alleged shooter on a building opposite from Kirk, the Losee Center. Here is a screenshot from that video at the moment the shooter rises:

The FBI released a video (archived here) showing the gunman running across the roof of the building after the shooting. He climbs down the street-facing wall of the building, drops to the grass and runs.

This building is the Losee Center. The triangular lightwell windows atop the building can be seen from the aerial view of the outdoor gathering area where Kirk was holding a Turning Point USA rally when he was shot.
