Fact Check: Video Of Black Bear Waking Man Napping On Porch Is NOT Real -- It's AI-Generated AI Generated

Does an authentic video show the moment when a curious black bear climbed on a porch railing and woke a napping man? No, that's not true: This video is AI-generated. It has the watermark of Sora, an app from OpenAI which can generate videos from text-based prompts.

The video (archived here) was posted on X by @DisrespectedThe on Oct. 6, 2025. It is captioned:

Wake up.

This is a still from the video included in the post:

This video has a watermark from Sora as well as the TikTok account handle @globalhiking, where it was posted originally on Oct. 6, 2025 (archived here). The @globalhiking account (archived here) has posted numerous AI-generated videos mimicking the style of footage filmed by a doorbell camera (pictured below). The porch scenes feature children and adults interacting with dangerous animals such as bears, alligators and mountain lions.

Sora is described on the Apple App Store this way:

Sora is a new kind of creative app that turns text prompts and images into hyperreal videos with sound using the latest advancements from OpenAI. A single sentence can unfold into a cinematic scene, an anime short, or remix of a friend's video. If you can write it, you can see it, remix it, and share it. Turn your words into worlds with Sora.
