Fact Check: Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo Did NOT Say They Are In 'Non-Demi-Curious Semi-Binary' Relationship Satire Label

Did Ariana Grande or Cynthia Erivo say they are in a "non-demi-curious semi-binary" relationship? No, that's not true: The viral rumor originated from a page that described itself as satire. In part, the disclaimer said that it's where "truth goes to die".

The claim originated from a post (archived here) published on Facebook on November 18, 2025. It opened:

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande STUN as they reportedly enter into a non-demi-curious semi-binary relationship
Cynthia explained: 'It means we are not actually a couple but we are curious about what that could mean and everything' she demented ❤️

Here is what an attached image looked like at the time of writing on Facebook:

Other variations of the claim displayed a different picture (archived here):

It's unclear if the last two words of the post - "she demented" - is a typo, a pun on "demi-" or commentary on Grande and/or Erivo.

The story, however, originated from the page whose self-description (archived here), at the time of writing, read:

The Lamented: where truth goes to die and sarcasm reigns supreme. Serving up satire, nonsense, and gloriously unreliable stories.
Previously, as seen in the Transparency tab shown below, the page had a different name, Wakefield News, that mimicked common names of journalistic organizations. That, in turn, could have added to the confusion of social media users.
