Fact Check: Trump Did NOT Make The Melania Movie Mandatory In History Courses, Did NOT Spell Her Name 'Melanie' No Such Post

Did U.S. President Donald Trump write on Truth Social that the documentary about his wife, Melania, will become mandatory in history classes, while calling her "Melanie"? No, that's not true: No such post could be found on his account. Lead Stories searched an archive of Trump's posts, which did not produce any evidence that the viral image showed a real Truth post by Trump.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published on Bluesky on January 28, 2026. The caption pointed to the incorrect name of First Lady Melania Trump in what looked like a screenshot shared in the entry:

'Melanie'.

The screenshot purporting to show one of Donald Trump's posts on Truth Social read:

In celebration of my INCREDIBLE WIFE, MELANIE, and her BRAND NEW MOVIE (critics are calling it "VERY IMPORTANT"), I am proud to announce that it will now be considered a FOUNDATIONAL MOMENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY.

Effective immediately, this movie will be MANDATORY VIEWING in ALL history courses. Elementary, high school, college - EVERYONE. People should learn WINNING early.

Any universities that REFUSE to teach this MASTERPIECE will unfortunately see their funding DISAPPEAR. Sad! But rules are rules.

This is about EDUCATION. This is about CULTURE. This is about RESPECT.

Congratulations to MELANIA on this HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT!!!

Many people are saying it's the greatest film since the invention of film.

This is what the image of the "post" looked like on Bluesky at the time of writing:

Lead Stories searched Trump's account on Truth Social (archived here) but did not find anything matching the wording of the supposed post (archived here).

A Google search for the phrases "In celebration of my INCREDIBLE WIFE" AND "MELANIE" across his account on that social media platform did not produce any results (archived here).

Lead Stories searched an archive of Trump's posts (archived here) in case it was posted and then taken down, but found no evidence (archived here) that the viral image showed an authentic entry.

A documentary titled "Melania" about the 20 days before husband Donald Trump's return to the White House premiered on January 29, 2026 (archived here).

Trump promoted the movie on January 23, 2026 (archived here) twice (archived here) and once on January 26, 2026 (archived here). However, none of those posts referred to his wife as "Melanie" or announced that the movie would become mandatory in history classes.
