The claim appeared in a post (archived here) published on X on February 8, 2026. It read:
U.S. House Representative Thomas Massie:
'Last night I received a flash drive containing the complete list of files belonging to Jeffrey Epstein. Everything is there: every billionaire, every campaign donor, every single person. Now let me explain why you haven't heard anything about this in the media. Because they're all in there. They will do everything to prevent these documents from being made public. Epstein was far more than just a pedophile; he was an intelligence asset. He was part of a blackmail operation used to control billionaires, politicians, and world leaders. If this list ever sees the light of day, the system as we know it will collapse. The public has the right to know the truth, and I am not afraid to share it.'

On the day of the claim's publication, Rep. Massie wrote on X (archived here and here) that he, like other members of the U.S. House, would review the unredacted version of the Epstein files at the Department of Justice and asked his followers for tips on what to look into.
He did not say what social media attributed to him about a flash drive.
In a statement shared with Lead Stories on February 10, 2026, via email, Rep. Massie said:
This is fake news. I don't have a flash drive. Why make stuff up when the reality itself is so shocking and disgusting?
A search across his account on X did not produce a single mention of the supposed flash drive (archived here).
A search on Google News (archived here) for the exact phrase from the purported statement shared on social media did not yield a single English-language result.
