Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Netanyahu With Six Fingers On His Right Hand -- It's Just A Shadow On His Palm Five Fingers

Does a screenshot of a video show that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has six fingers? No, that's not true: The screenshot captured a moment when there is a shadow on the side of his hand. The full video from Israel's Government Press Office shows him speaking and gesturing with his hands, each of which has five fingers.

The screenshot appeared in a post (archived here) on X by @gigabasedd on March 12, 2026. It was captioned:

Last time I checked, humans usually dont have 6 fingers.... AI does. Is Netenyahu no more?

This is the screenshot included with the post:

This screenshot of Netanyahu's speech is not the original, as there are layers of logos and a chyron from several news channels. In the upper left-hand corner, the original logo of Israel's Government Press Office (GPO) is almost entirely obscured. The original video (archived here) was published on YouTube by the GPO on March 12, 2026 (embedded below). The screenshot appears to be authentic but is misrepresented--it shows a momentary shadow, not a sixth finger.

At 34 seconds Netanyahu gestures with both hands, pointing his index fingers. He has five fingers on each hand. During this gesture, for a brief moment in the video a shadow forms briefly by a crease on the side of his right hand. The screenshot in the X post shows that moment. The Lead Stories composite image (below) also shows the moments in the video just before and after.
