Does an image of Pakistani government officials being searched by U.S. military members during Iran peace talks that took place in April 2026 show a real event? No, that's not true: The image showed several signs of AI generation. Additionally, there were no news reports that such a search actually happened.
The claim appeared in a post published on X on April 14, 2026, by the account @Turki81873615 (archived here). The post featured an image and an Arabic caption. Translated to English by Grok, the AI assistant on X, the caption read:
The greatest insult, humiliation, and disgrace to Pakistan
So that Pakistan's president and army chief can understand how America humiliates them and how these American agents operate in their own country
For the first time in history, a prime minister and army chief are searched in their own country by a delegation from another state, and their weapons are taken away on their own soil. Moreover, U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance brought his own vehicles and security forces with him to secure his movements.
And according to what is being circulated, Pakistani officials who enter are searched, and they are not even allowed to enter in military uniforms.
It is a striking paradox in today's world; after Pakistan was asked to play the role of mediator, it now finds itself in an embarrassing position, where it seems that the United States does not trust even its procedures or officials.
This is a clearer version (archived here), of what the image featured in the post on X looked like:

To everyone, the image is artificial intelligence, but the subservience of Pakistani military leaders to America is not artificial intelligence.
On April 15, 2026, Lead Stories ran the image through several AI detection tools: DeepFake-o-Meter, Illuminarty, and Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection. Results varied, with DeepFake-o-Meter concluding the image was "Likely Authentic" with moderate confidence; Illuminarty concluding that the image had an 18.1% "AI-probability"; and Hive Moderation concluding the image was 95.6% "likely to be AI-generated."

However, the image showed other signs of being generated by AI. Reverse image searches of the image using Google Images (archived here) only found instances of social media posts using the image. Reverse image searches made on TinEye (archived here) and Yandex (archived here) returned no matching results, providing no evidence that the image showed a real event. A search of the phrase "Pakistani government officials searched by U.S. military in Iran 2026" on Google News (archived here) did not provide any results that included the image.
Visual clues also made the image appear inauthentic, as circled in the image below. Several figures are wearing a mix of business and military attire, or have wardrobe or bodily features that do not match the rest of their appearance (red circles). The planes in the background have strange features: one has irregular windows, and the other is missing a front window (green circles). Also, the Pakistani government officials are being searched with unidentifiable instruments (yellow circles).
