Fact Check: Fox News Did NOT Post A Story That "Florida Man Refuses To Pay Taxes Because He Did Not Personally Approve Any Of The Spending" It's A Joke

Did Fox News post a story with the headline "FLORIDA MAN REFUSES TO PAY TAXES BECAUSE HE DID NOT PERSONALLY APPROVE ANY OF THE SPENDING"? No, that's not true: The account that originally posted the story is a satire page and states it is "totally made-up entertainment," where the "stories are just wild enough to almost be real."

The claim appeared in an April 6, 2026, post on X account @DoniTheMisfit (archived here). It opened:

FLORIDA MAN REFUSES TO PAY TAXES BECAUSE HE DID NOT PERSONALLY APPROVE ANY OF THE SPENDING

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The image posted on X had the news outlet's logo cropped out, but a a reverse image search traced the image to a post on the Facebook account @TheDudeHumorReport (archived here) with a Fox News logo in the top left corner, as this screenshot shows:

The account @TheDudeHumorReport (archived here) is a page with a "The Dude" character from "The Big Lebowski" movie logo (archived here) that states it features "satire and parody stories that are exaggerated, developing fictional -- created for entertainment purposes only," as this screenshot shows:

The bio states:

Lead Stories has previously identified The Dude Humor Report as a satire page in a separate fact check.

Had Fox News posted such a story, it would have been easily found on the news website or the internet. Lead Stories searched Fox News (archived here) for the story and did not find any matching results. A search of Google (archived here) and Yahoo! News (archived here) found the satire post on Facebook and no articles with the headline.
