Does a real video show a Tesla Cybertruck carrying solar panels? No, that's not true: The clip is a digital creation, not authentic footage. Cybertrucks, like other electric vehicles, are not designed to be charged while in motion. An AI detection tool concluded that "the video is likely to be AI-generated" after analyzing its content.
The claim appeared in a post and video (archived here) by the Muhammad Haffiz account on Facebook on May 20, 2026. It opened:
Where can we install this? Looks like it could solve the congestion problem at public charging stations 😆
This is what a screenshot of the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The original
The fake clip first appeared hours earlier in a post (archived here) by the LMG account on Facebook on May 20, 2026. In the first comment of the post, the LMG account acknowledges that the video is not real:

AI detection
The Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection tool also concluded that the video overall was 100% "likely to be AI-generated":

Additional AI indicator
The clip also contains an indicator of AI generation. In the lower-left corner, the reflection in the side-view mirror of the original video shows an AI "hallucination," with three door handles (circled in red) where there would normally be only two:

Charging a Tesla Cybertruck
The online owner's manual (archived here) for the Cybertruck says the vehicle must be in Park for charging to take place. According to the manual, the following conditions must be met for charging via the charging port using a connector -- the same charging-port-and-connector setup shown in the video (emphasis ours):
- Engages a latch that holds the connector in place;
- Shifts into Park (if it was in any other drive mode);
- Heats or cools the Battery, if needed. If the Battery requires heating or cooling, you may notice a delay before charging begins.
