Fact Check: Video Clip Does NOT Show Victims From Hot Air Balloon Accident In Brazil -- Different Ride In Initial Footage Not In Family

Does the opening clip of a video with a screaming woman in a hot air balloon show footage from the accident in Brazil where an "entire family" was killed? No, that's not true: That clip shows Casey Cleaver during a different hot air balloon ride, not the accident in Brazil. The remaining footage in the video does show the real Brazil accident, which killed eight people -- not from one entire family as the post claimed -- in Praia Grande, Santa Catarina, on June 21, 2025.

The claim appeared in a video posted on June 22, 2026 on X account @Amakin93308356 (archived here). It opened:

Here is the video posted on X:

The first 13 seconds of the video is a clip with the caption, "I will never go on a hot air balloon again," and shows a woman screaming while the basket of a hot air balloon is shaking in the air. This video was published on TikTok account @caseycleaver (archived here) on June 18, 2025, and matches the first clip in the video posted on X. It is not from the hot air balloon accident in Brazil.

Cleaver is still alive and uploaded a video, unrelated to the hot air balloon ride (archived here), to her account on June 22, 2026.

The hot air balloon accident, where it caught fire and fell from the sky, killing eight people, took place in Brazil in June 2025. The third clip in the video posted on X matches the first 10 seconds of a video posted on the NBC News YouTube account on June 21, 2025 (archived here).
