Is a video showing a transgender Florida student fake, AI-generated, or staged? No, that's not true: The footage is body camera video from the University of Central Florida Police Department. The incident occurred in February 2025 and involved then-student Jarrett Vick, who was upset about how police used pronouns when referring to them during an encounter that resulted in their arrest.
The claim appeared in a post and video (archived here) by the @Shawdes29 account on X on July 22, 2026. It read:
You can tell this is fake because of the caricature of a 'trans person'. It's the same design as all the anti trans memes right wingers share. This is what they think trans people are.

Body camera video
The clip is from authentic body camera video recorded by the University of Central Florida Police Department. It is not fake, AI-generated, or staged. The footage showing Vick was recorded on February 5, 2025. University of Central Florida (UCF) Public Safety Communications Manager Amanda Sellers responded to a Lead Stories request for information in a July 23, 2026, email. Her statement said:
Jarrett Vick was last enrolled at UCF in Spring 2025, is not a current student, and did not graduate from the university.
It is important to note that the incident referenced occurred in February 2025, more than a year ago. At that time, UCF Police officers responded to reports that Vick was involved in a verbal altercation with several juveniles and became combative with officers upon their arrival. Vick was subsequently arrested and charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting an Officer with Violence.
