Did an Aug. 3, 2026, procession in Louisville bring the corpse of Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky to the coroner's office there? No, that's not true: The Louisville Metro Police Department told Lead Stories that reports involving McConnell were "completely false" and said authorities were escorting the body of an officer who had died. As of Aug. 5, 2026, there was no credible evidence, either, that the senator had died or that his body had been brought from the Washington, D.C., area -- where he has been staying at a rehabilitation center -- to Louisville.
The claim appeared in a post and video (archived here) by the @williamdaule account on Threads on Aug. 4, 2026. The video originated on the @epistemiccrisis account. The post opened:
HUGE: Mitch McConnell's body has been delivered to the coroner's office in Louisville, Kentucky. The fix has be in [sic] (as we all knew), but the informants are bringing it out.

Louisville Metro Police Department
In an Aug. 5, 2026, email, the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) responded to Lead Stories' questions about the procession. A statement from Sgt. Matt Sanders said (emphasis his):
The reports you're seeing about LMPD escorting Sen. Mitch McConnell are completely false.
LMPD was escorting an LMPD officer who passed away on Monday. [Aug. 3, 2026]
News searches
Lead Stories searched Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) and did not find any matching reports from credible news outlets using the search terms: "Louisville," "procession," "McConnell," and "coroner."
There were also no press releases on McConnell's official Senate website (archived here) as of Aug. 5, 2026, providing an update on his health. Previous updates from July 12, 2026 (archived here) and July 27, 2026 (archived here) remained on the site.
The person who made the claim later withdrew the video, issued a correction, and apologized in a post (archived here) by the @epistemiccrisis5 account uploaded to TikTok on Aug. 4, 2026.
