Fact Check: FAKE Image Of Robert De Niro With 'Trump Is My President' Shirt Was Posted On Trump's Truth Social Account -- It Is AI-Generated Made With AI

Was a real photo posted on Donald Trump's Truth Social account, showing Robert De Niro posed with a "Trump Is My President" T-shirt? No, that's not true: The image is AI-generated. The Hive Moderation Content Detection tool rated the image 99.5% likely to be AI-generated and the OpenAI Verify tool detected the SynthID watermark indicating the image was made with OpenAI tools.

The image appeared in a post (archived here) by the @realDonaldTrump account on Truth Social on Sept. 6, 2026. It read:

Even this jerk is beginning to get it!

Lead Stories uploaded the image to the Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection Tool (archived here). It returned a rating: 99.5% likely to be an AI-generated image (pictured below).

The Hive reading also suggested there was a 78.5% likelihood the AI-generated image was made with '4o', a GPT model from OpenAI (archived here). Lead Stories uploaded the image to the OpenAI Verify tool (archived here), which found the image contained the SynthID watermark, indicating the image was generated using OpenAI tools (pictured below).

A search of Yahoo News (archived here) and Google News (archived here) for the terms "Trump De Niro" returned several results regarding this Truth Social post. Other articles document years of criticisms the two have voiced regarding each other. There is no reporting that De Niro has had a recent change of heart and is now supporting Trump.
