Did President Donald Trump post "No more free Niagara Falls for Canada" on his social media accounts? No, that's not true: A review of Trump's Truth Social account found no record of such a post. The claim appears to have originated with a fabricated screenshot that shows Trump supposedly threatening to cut off the flow of Niagara Falls to Canada unless the country paid a 100% tariff. There are also no credible reports that Trump made any such statement elsewhere.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the @CoffinItUp account on X on Sept. 9, 2026. It read:
Our country is a f'n Simpson's episode...(Oh, and that's another war crime, stable genius!).

For far too long, Canada has been enjoying our water, our views, our tourists, and our great American waterfall -- NIAGARA FALLS! They get the Canadian side, they take the mist, the water, and billions of dollars from tourism, all while treating the United States unfairly on trade, lumber, energy, and so many other things. It was not immediately clear where the image of the fake Trump post originated, but a Google reverse image search (archived here) on Sept. 10, 2026, showed it may have first appeared online on Sept. 9, 2026. Some of the matches to the image appeared to be inaccurately linked to earlier dates by accounts that also shared it after a manual check. Another reverse image search by TinEye (archived here) on Sept. 10, 2026, provided no results.
