Fact Check: FAKE Image Shows Jeff Bezos After 'Hair Transplant' -- It Is AI-Altered Edited

Does an image show Amazon founder Jeff Bezos after getting a hair transplant in 2026? No, that's not true: The image appears to be a 2023 photo of Bezos altered with AI, with Hive Moderation rating it 99.9% likely to be AI-generated. Lead Stories found no reports from established news outlets confirming that the businessman received a hair transplant in mid fall 2026.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X where it was published by @5149jamesli on Nov. 2, 2026. The caption to what seemed to be a photo read:

Is this a real photo of Jeff Bezos? @grok

This is what the attached image looked like on X at the time of publication:

Online AI detector Sightengine said the picture was 99% likely to be AI-generated:

Hive Moderation, which is another AI detection tool, concluded that the image was 99.9% likely to have been a product of generative AI:

One more tool, SynthID Detector (archived here), determined that the image was "made or edited with Google AI" and detected SynthID, an invisible watermark (archived here) showing the presence of generative AI:

A reverse image search led to the original photo that was published, for example, by Page Six of the New York Post (archived here) on Dec. 20, 2023. It showed Bezos without the full head of hair in the viral image.

As of Nov. 3, 2026, a search across Google News for the keywords seen here (archived here) showed no reports from established media organizations confirming that the Amazon founder underwent the purported hair transplant surgery.

Photos of Bezos from Sept. 29, 2026 -- for example, here (archived here) -- still did not show him with a full head of hair.
