While Carly Fiorina was the social media winner of the early Fox News debate, Donald Trump was the star of the prime time debate of the top 10 poll leaders, according to the Trendolizer political rankings. Still, Trump was booed by the Republican audience when he refused to vow not to run as an independent.
Ted Cruz appears to have gained from his forceful performance, based on the Trendolizer's measurement of social media interest in candidates in the hours after the debate.
Trendolizer, which identifies and analyzes posts, comments, pins and tweets on social media, cannot reflect sentiment, but does measure the relative level of social media attention.
The biggest gains came to Carly Fiorina, who jumped from near-obscurity to the top of the Trendolizer political rankings soon after the early debate ended. It's the spot that Donald Trump has occupied almost non-stop. Trump regained the top position after the prime time debate, but Fiorina retained a much higher ranking than where she's been in recent weeks.
While polls show Trump with a commanding lead over Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and the rest of the Republican hopefuls, the battle may be won or lost in social media. Only Lead Stories' Trendolizer can measure in near-real time how each candidate is capturing social network attention.
