According to a story making the rounds on Facebook, BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was asked by her colleague Bill Turnbill:
"Carol, it looks a bit chilly where you are?"
To which she allegedly replied:
"That's right Billy, it's cold as fuck."
Supposedly the exchange took place during an outside broadcast on a hill in the North York Moor. Normally such language is almost unheard of during the broadcasts of such a respected institution as the BBC. But Carol Kirkwood has nothing to worry about, as the BBC was "said to have issued a statement saying there would be no sanction for Miss Kirkwood because:"
After investigation we have discovered that on the North York Moors on Friday morning, it was indeed cold as fuck.
We expect this story will keep going around for some time even though we can predict is completely bogus just by looking at the original source. NewsThump happens to be a satirical news website, it even says so right in the header: "UK Spoof News and Satire".
They have certainly outdone themselves this time though: the story has been liked/shared/commented on almost 100,000 times on Facebook in the past 24 hours, and we can see more likes, tweets and shares coming in via a high-pressure satire area moving in from the north.
