President Donald Trump made an offhand remark during a speech in Florida on saturday mentioning "last night in Sweden". It caused quite the upset on Twitter:
Trump, discussing terror, seamlessly mentions incident "last night in Sweden".

There was NO "incident" in Sweden last night. pic.twitter.com/XtcC4PRiNU
The former P.M. of Sweden was very surprised:
Sweden? Terror attack? What has he been smoking? Questions abound. https://t.co/XWgw8Fz7tj

Last year there were app 50% more murders only in Orlando/Orange in Florida, where Trump spoke the other day, than in all of Sweden. Bad.

Ordinary people in Sweden got in on the hubhub too:
Dear US. I live in Sweden. Nothing happened in Sweden last night. Your president is lying and we are now pretty pissed off. Thanks. /Sweden

Turns out there actually was an incident in Sweden:
Literally the biggest incident of Sweden last night was a horse called Biscuit being rescued from a well. https://t.co/CAYsHhpt6z

Things got officially awkward:
UPDATE: Swedish Embassy seeks State Department clarification of Trump's remarks suggesting major incident. https://t.co/1oJtIgUaqY

We look forward to informing the US administration about Swedish immigration and integration policies. https://t.co/x5G3euOWRh

Jokers got in on it too:

Sweden stood with us after Bowling Green. Today we stand with Sweden.
-- Gary Shteyngart (@Shteyngart) February 19, 2017
What happened in Sweden Friday night? Did they catch the Bowling Green Massacre perpetrators?
-- Chelsea Clinton (@ChelseaClinton) February 19, 2017
In the end, it turns out Donald Trump wasn't speaking about something that happened in Sweden but about something he had seen on television about Sweden the night before:
My statement as to what's happening in Sweden was in reference to a story that was broadcast on @FoxNews concerning immigrants & Sweden.
-- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 19, 2017
Glad the confusion is cleared up!
