Fake News: George Soros Did NOT Say "I've made my life's mission to destroy the United States"

Did George Soros say "I've made my life's mission to destroy the United States. I hate this country and I hate all of the people in it." in a Newsweek interview in 1979?

Facebook page Mad World News posted a meme on April 18, 2018 that claimed just that (archived here), adding just this caption above the image:

George Soros...

Just 10 seconds of Googling revealed this particular image with the fake quote had been already debunked by Snopes in February 2018:

FACT CHECK: Did George Soros Say His Life's Mission Is to Destroy the United States?

George Soros said "I've made my life's mission to destroy the United States. I hate this country and I hate all of the people in it." False Billionaire philanthropist George Soros is reviled in right wing circles - not, of course, because of his vast wealth, which he earned as a good, old-fashioned capitalist, but because of how it spends it, i.e.

There is no evidence of Soros uttering those words and no copies of this supposed Newsweek 1979 article can be found anywhere online.

That didn't seem to stop the admins of Mad World News who gleefully reposted the image for their 1.9 million Facebook fans. About 2,000 of them already shared it at the time of writing.
