Fact Check: This Photo Does NOT Show Nancy Pelosi Unmasked At A Party During The Pandemic Old Photo

Was Nancy Pelosi pictured unmasked at a party during the Covid-19 pandemic? No, that's not true: This is a photo from a restaurant opening January 7, 2020, 13 days before before the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the United States.

The claim appeared in a Facebook meme (archived here) published on December 17, 2020 with the caption "Hmmm." The meme read:

Ladies and Gentlemen here's your speaker of the house enjoying a party after she tells you you can't have social gatherings

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The following tweet from January 7, 2020 is the original source of the photo of Speaker Pelosi:

The first confirmed case of COVID-19 did not arrive in the US until January 20, 2020, 13 days after this photo of Pelosi was taken, meaning that masks and social distancing directives had not been instated yet.
