Is George Strait suing television show "The View" and co-host Whoopi Goldberg for $50 million? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that the country music icon has filed a lawsuit against the daytime talk show. Strait has never been a guest on The View, according to the Internet Movie Database. The images used in the social media post do not appear on any news sites. At least one detection tool found one photo used in the post purporting to show Strait on the show was 100% AI generated.
The claim appeared in a post where it was published on Facebook on August 18, 2025. It opened:
"GEORGE STRAIT UNLEASHES $50 MILLION LEGAL INFERNO ON 'THE VIEW' -- WHOOPI GOLDBERG IN THE CROSSHAIRS AFTER LIVE-TV 'ASSASSINATION'"

According to IMDB.com, Strait has not appeared as a guest or a host on The View (archived here) as of August 20, 2025.
Had Strait, the best selling country artist of all time, with 44 Billboard Country Song #1 hits, filed a lawsuit against the show it would have been reported by major news outlets. Lead Stories searched Google News' index of thousands of news websites and found no credible news reports of Strait suing the show for $50 million. Similarly, the Yahoo! News index of partner news sites and news services showed no legitimate news reports of Strait filing a lawsuit against The View and Goldberg for $50 million (archived here).
A reverse image search (archived here) from one of the photos in the collage posted did not find any matches of this photo showing Strait pointing at Goldberg on what appears to be the set of The View:

No news sites published the second photo, as a reverse image search showed (archived here). As this screenshot shows Strait, appears to be wearing a different shirt and hat, another indication it's a fake report of a confrontation:

Lead Stories searched the New York State Unified Court System for lawsuits naming Whoopi Goldberg (archived here), The View (archived here) and George Strait (archived here) and did not find a Strait lawsuit against the co-host or the show.
